Advantages of Coating Butyrate for Poultry
Uncoated butyrate is absorbed quickly in the early stages of the digestive tract, before reaching the large intestine, which limits its full potential. CAL SU is a micro-encapsulated calcium butyrate and sodium butyrate product, coated with palm stearin. This formulation enables the slow and targeted release of butyrate along the entire digestive tract, enhancing its effectiveness and broadening its scope of action across various gut levels. Additionally, the coating reduces the typically unpleasant smell of unprotected butyrate.
Key Ingredients:
Calcium Butyrate
Sodium Butyrate
Carrier: Palm Stearin
Concentration:
Calcium Butyrate: 75% Minimum
Sodium Butyrate: 5% Minimum
Molecular Formula: C₈H₁₄O₄Ca
Molecular Weight: 214
Description: White to off-white beadlets with excellent flowability. Free from the typical rancid butyric odor. Non-hygroscopic and insoluble in water.
Growth Promotion
Butyric acid is a critical energy source for intestinal epithelial cells. It supports intestinal growth, recovery, and differentiation of intestinal villi. The increased length of the villi (up to 30%) leads to a larger absorption surface, improving nutrient uptake. This, in turn, can increase feed intake by up to 10%, promoting healthier and faster-growing poultry.
Strong Antibacterial Effects
Butyric acid enters microbial cells in its undissociated form. Inside the cell, it releases protons in an alkaline environment, leading to a decrease in the intracellular pH. This drop in pH disrupts microbial metabolism, causing the cells to expend energy to excrete the excess protons. Ultimately, this results in the death of the microbes, helping to balance gut flora and enhance overall poultry health.
